Routine Caffeine are new on the scene with their soft, sweet, yet femme fatale attitude. Two gals from Michigan meet two gals from Kentucky to offer up an indie rock sound as unique as the women that craft it. Katie Kelley on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Emma Treganowan on lead guitar, Madison Case on vocals and bass, and Tess Fulkerson on drums.

To be honest, we didn’t know much about the Louisville band Routine Caffeine. We were pleasantly surprised when they sent us their debut single, “Pennies in the Garden,” a catchy indie pop song. Naturally we had to find out a lot more about this relatively new band on the local music scene. Checking their socials, we did see that they called themselves “Cool gals with caffeine addictions who play music sometimes,” so we asked them to take a break, put the coffee down and share their story.

The Kentucky four-piece step on the scene with a polished, driving tune that builds until it crashes into a head-banging jam made to play loud or see live. Soft vocals, reminiscent of Samia’s falsetto, complement the propulsive guitar riffs and never falter. Although subdued, you never lose the vocals in the production. They’re always there, leading your ear through the sound.
